Cheryl S. Hankin, Ph.D
President and Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Cheryl Hankin is the founder of BioMedEcon and serves as the company’s president and chief scientific officer. She is a respected leader in health economics, with more than 25 years of experience in the field. Her passion to affect positive change in healthcare is the driving force behind the success of BioMedEcon.
Dr. Hankin’s experience in Health Economics and Outcomes Research spans the pharmaceutical industry (Director of Outcomes Research at Johnson and Johnson companies), academia (Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Public Health) and the public sector (Research Health Scientist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Health Services Research and Development Center of Excellence).
Dr. Hankin graduated from Wellesley College with highest academic honors (Wellesley College Scholar) before earning her doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. She was recently appointed to the Boston University School of Public Health Center for the Assessment of Pharmaceutical Practices (CAPP) and Pharmaceutical Assessment, Management and Policy (PAMP) Advisory Committees.
Prior to entering the healthcare field, Dr. Hankin served as a corporate controller to Silicon Valley industry, during which she provided expertise in conducting financial analyses, forecasting, budgeting, and competitive market evaluations. She therefore has an in-depth understanding of the scientific and business strategies that are required for successful commercialization of health care products.
David Hankin, MBA
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Hankin is the co-founder and administrative executive for BioMedEcon. He possesses extensive experience in the management of professional service organizations and has expertise in primary market research and customer experience management. Previously, Mr. Hankin was Director of Consulting for Satmetrix, Inc., during which he led numerous customer experience surveys and strategy projects, and served as instructor for the Net Promoter Certification program. Prior to his role at Satmetrix, Mr. Hankin was Senior Vice President at Gartner, Inc., at which he managed both the company’s primary research division as well as Dataquest. He previously served as Division Vice President for SRI International.
Mr. Hankin earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics,
cum laude, from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Amy Bronstone, Ph.D.
Director of Medical Writing
Dr. Amy Bronstone is Director of Medical Writing for BioMedEcon. In this role, Dr. Bronstone is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the company’s biomedical communication services, which include:
- Publications and presentations planning
- Systematic literature reviews
- Competitive product analyses
- Journal articles, book chapters, and white papers
- Abstracts and posters for scientific conferences
- Formulary dossiers and monographs
- Presentations for advisory boards, sales trainings, and other meetings
Dr. Bronstone earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Yale University and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (
summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi) from Pomona College. Prior to joining BioMedEcon, Dr. Bronstone completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and subsequently worked as a Senior Research Associate for a behavioral health sciences research group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). This position involved planning and writing federal grant proposals, coordinating and supervising study operations (e.g., data collection and management), consulting with biostatisticians, conducting data analyses, and co-authoring manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. After leaving UCSF, Dr. Bronstone headed AB Medical Communications, which offered a range of biomedical communication services to clients in academia and industry engaging in diverse areas of medical research.
Shirley Wang, M.S.
Senior Manager of Biostatistics and Epidemiology
Ms. Shirley Wang is Senior Manager of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at BioMedEcon. She is responsible for overseeing all data analytic services, such as large-scale retrospective claims analyses and analyses of clinical trial data.
Ms. Wang received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Sichuan University, a Master of Science in Atmospheric Chemistry from Nagoya University, and a Master of Science in Biostatistics from the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY-Albany). During her tenure at SUNY-Albany, Ms. Wang evaluated the effect of folic acid fortification on birth defects for the New York State Department of Health. She also investigated the association between ozone exposure and asthma-related hospital admissions.
She speaks Chinese, Japanese, and English.
